Katy grew up in rural New Hampshire and spent most of her childhood on horseback. She obtained her BS in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire and then worked for two years at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm. Katy attended veterinary school at Ross University and completed her clinical year at Oklahoma State University. After obtaining her DVM, Katy completed an internship at New England Equine Medical and Surgical Center (NEEMSC), where she currently works as a Field Service Veterinarian.

Ruth Ventela has been with Purina Mills for over 15 years as an Equine Nutrition Specialist. She graduated from Delaware Valley College with her BS in Large Animal Science. Ruth provides nutritional consultations to horse owners to assess their horses’ body conditions and evaluate their overall feed and forage programs, with the goal of helping horses reach their genetic potential and supporting optimal overall health and performance. Programs are tailored to meet special needs — feeding for medically related conditions, availability, and quality of forage and budget. Ruth has received numerous achievement awards for her leadership and service including the William H. Danforth Award and Circle of Achievement.
