Mixing Directions

Add one 16-oz. pouch of Calf Colostrum Supplement powder to 1.5 qt. of warm water. Mix thoroughly with a wire whisk.
Important: Make fresh solution daily. In times of stress or hot weather, electrolyte supplementation may be needed. 

Feeding Directions

• To Supplement Maternal Colostrum: Follow the mixing directions above. Within two hours of birth, feed the solution along with at least 2 quarts of clean, disease-free maternal colostrum using a nipple bottle. Provide a second feeding of colostrum 6-12 hours later. Once your calf is 24 hours old, start feeding calf milk replacer. 
• To Replace Maternal Colostrum: If your calf is unable to nurse, separated from its dam or will not receive maternal colostrum for any reason, we recommend using a colostrum replacer. To provide adequate nutrition with Calf Colostrum Supplement, follow the mixing directions above but mix two pouches into 3 quarts of water instead. Feed the resulting solution using a nipple bottle. Most calves will easily consume this volume of colostrum by nipple. If not, cool the colostrum for 2-3 hours and then re-warm to 100 F and offer again with a nipple. Provide one to four additional colostrum feedings in 6- to 8-hour intervals following the first feeding. After 24 hours, begin providing calf milk replacer.

• Important: Follow feeding directions. Every calf is an individual. The directions above are written for a calf that is about 75-100 pounds at birth. Adjust the amounts fed according to the calf’s body weight, the environmental conditions and the level of calf disease on your farm. Consult with your veterinarian if you have questions.
