Every horse's routine health care program needs to include regular fecal testing. Pre- and post-treatment fecal testing is the best way for horse owners to establish and monitor effective deworming programs and control common equine intestinal parasites. New England Horse Labs, a USDA-APHIS-inspected and certified equine testing lab, now makes it easy for horse owners to obtain fecal testing. Get fast, accurate results with ParaScreen-e. This kit includes the cost for testing and everything you need for collecting and mailing an equine fecal sample:
- One submission form
- A complete set of easy-to-follow instructions
- One sealable specimen container (in a baggie) with ID label
- One glove
- One pre-addressed, postage-paid specimen mailer
Simply place a small equine fecal sample in the plastic container and mail it to the equine testing laboratory. The equine/horse test lab will let you know, via direct email (or U.S. Mail if no email is available) if there is any evidence of intestinal parasitic activity in your horse. It’s as simple as that!
Testing will be completed within 24 hours after receipt of your sample. Results will be sent directly to you via email or US Mail. You will receive a "Fecal Analysis" reporting a "McMaster's Quantitative" fecal egg count, a valuable tool for establishing and monitoring the effectiveness of your deworming program.
Instructions
- Remove the specimen container and plastic scoop from the enclosed zip-lock bag.
- Clearly print your horse's name on the label of the zip-lock bag.
- Using the plastic scoop or your gloved hand, collect enough FRESH fecal sample to completely fill the black container.
- Close the lid of the black container and place it back in the labeled zip-lock bag. Seal the bag. Refrigerate the sample if you are not going to mail it the same day.
- Complete the Fecal Submission Form. Please print clearly.
- Insert the completed form and fecal sample into the postage-paid, pre-addressed specimen envelope, seal it, and mail it to:
