Store Manager - Saratoga Springs, NY

 

A full-time leadership position is available at our Saratoga Springs, NY, store. The Cheshire Horse is searching for a Store Manager to support the growth of our Saratoga, NY store and associates. This position is responsible for the daily retail operations and merchandising of the store including direct management of assigning and overseeing the completion of tasks and responsibilities delegated to the store team. Primary responsibilities will focus on maximizing sales, profitability, and customer service while ensuring an efficient, healthy, and productive workplace.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Sales and Operations
  • Direct the retail operations of the store within company guidelines
  • Analyze changes that affect the store’s operation and goals
  • Hire, train, and develop staff with goals for growth and success in their positions, provide ongoing performance feedback, and recognize accomplishments
  • Supervise staff to ensure sales and customer service goals are met and that company procedures are followed accurately
  • Manage and forecast scheduling needs to meet customer demand and create work schedules for staff
  • Oversee payroll to ensure compliance with established budgets, and take corrective measures as necessary
  • Delegate workload among staff to meet store needs and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Perform associate evaluations as per company standards in order to provide feedback for improvement, praise and recognition, and growth opportunities
Customer Service
  • Promote excellent, personalized customer service as the #1 company priority through observing, monitoring and supporting staff performance and interactions in each department, while leading by example and coaching as necessary
  • Resolve customer claims and complaints in a manner that is timely, courteous, and discreet
  • Authorize refunds in a manner that is consistent with company policy 
Communication and Training
  • Schedule and conduct monthly store meetings
  • Use check-ins, communication boards, and store meetings as the means to improve the store’s efficiency and team work, and to educate, engage and motivate team members
  • Oversee in-store communication strategy for promotions, events, and seasonal merchandising based on store needs and in collaboration with marketing. Create in store traffic building campaigns.
  • Identify training and professional growth opportunities for staff (i.e. new hire orientation, on-the-job training, training with vendors, etc.)
  • Support the resolution of employee conflicts, report any harassment, EEO, or other discrimination issues to DM and HR immediately
  • Work on professional development through leadership training opportunities 
  • (self-directed learning, local business events, Ace learning and industry events, etc.)

Safety, Compliance, and Workplace 
  • Overall responsibility for store safety and security
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures, and serve as a role model for safety
  • Maintain clean and tidy store appearance
  • Safeguard assets and consistently maintain a safe environment for customers and employees
  • Conduct and understand preventative safety protocols, and take appropriate actions to correct any issues as needed
  • Report maintenance and safety issues as they arise
  • Act as a key holder 
  • Maintain safe opening and closing procedures
Inventory
  • Maintain an accurate inventory, with minimal shrinkage
  • Support areas of inventory (purchasing, stocking, merchandising, control) to successfully maintain on-hand integrity, daily receiving and transfers, store communication, product mix and flow, and adhering to Cheshire Horse best practices
  • Support merchandising updates according to Cheshire Horse standards

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a retail or customer service setting

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide motivation and leadership to staff company-wide in a fair and impartial manner
  • High degree of analytical skills, and the ability to delegate and be self-directed
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills

Assistant Store Manager - Swanzey, NH

 

A full-time leadership position is available at our Swanzey, NH, store. The Cheshire Horse is searching for an Assistant Manager to support the growth of our company and the continued development of our management team and associates. This position will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the retail stores and online sales channels to support the General Manager. Primary responsibilities will focus on maximizing sales, profitability, and customer service while ensuring an efficient, healthy, and productive workplace.
