Mane & Tail Combs

Care for your horse’s mane and tail with a new mane comb or a specialized tail brush. These brushes will allow you to care for your horse’s luscious locks of hair by moving natural oils through the hair shaft while removing knots, mud, burrs, and other debris.

When brushing your horse’s tail, work your way from the end of the tail to your horse’s dock. This will help to maintain a full and long tail, as it minimizes the amount of tail hairs that are pulled out and damaged during the brushing process. Wide paddle style brushes, like the Tail Tamer Curve Handle Brush and the Oster Mane And Tail Brush, are popular among many of our customers.

Some breeds and disciplines prefer a long mane. We have the proper tools available in store and online to help your horse grow a full head of hair. Utilize a wide tooth comb to pick out dreadlocks (which some people lovingly refer to as fairy knots or witch knots) from your horse’s mane. Then use a brush, such as the Lami-Cell Curved Mane Pin Brush, to remove the rest of the knots.

If you pull your horse’s mane for button braids or keep it neatly shortened for banding, the Jacks Folding Stripping Comb allows you to painlessly remove the longer mane hairs. After you have achieved the length that you want, a rake style comb, like the Grooma Rake Comb, is ideal taming shorter manes.

Keeping your horse’s mane and tail free flowing and knot-free is a source of pride for many equestrians.
