An important practice in maintaining your horse's overall health and wellbeing is regular deworming. It's normal to find internal parasites in your horse, as they are usually ingested through food or their environment; however, these parasites pose a great risk to a horse's overall health if left to increase in number and spread to susceptible areas like his lungs or stomach.

Horse owners typically deworm their horse with an easy-to-use tube of deworming paste on a bi-monthly basis. In the past, vets have recommended rotating the types of dewormer used, as this would ensure all types of worms would be treated regularly. Current research now suggests that this bimonthly, rotating method can be dangerous, as it may cause your horse to develop parasitic resistance. Some horse owners now rely on Fecal Egg Counts (FEC) to determine what deworming needs their horse might have. At your horse's next appointment, discuss with your vet which method of deworming might be best for your horse.

Whatever your need, The Cheshire Horse carries a variety of dewormers to keep your equine healthy. Our deworming pastes are effective for all major parasites, including: large and small strongyles, bots, roundworms, pinworms, ascarids, hairworms, lungworms, tapeworms, and threadworms, among others.

Our selection of paste dewormers from major brands like Durvet, Merck, Zoetis, Merial, cover the full spectrum of parasite treatment. We carry ivermectin, pyrantel pamoate, fenbendazole, and moxidectin pastes, among others, to meet your deworming needs.

If your horse is on a liquid or pellet deworming program, consider our different options from Durvet, Merck, and Zoetis. These easy-to-feed options are a broad-spectrum treatment for the horse who might be harder to treat with paste. The Zoetis Strongid C 2X daily pellet offers an especially rigorous treatment for horses at higher risk for parasite infestation.
