These oats keep weight and top line on my 14 year old hard keeper Thoroughbred. I would highly recommend them for any horse . A nice healthy diet addition for pasture pets or working horses .

I have one of the most difficult hard keepers I know. He came off of summer pasture (in July) incredibly thin and with winter the way it is, I needed to start packing the pounds on sooner rather than later. This year was very difficult. Alfalfa, beet pulp, hay 24/7 and Renew Gold was my weight building cocktail for him in the past but not this year. Vet said treat him like an in work racehorse - Oats, barley etc. after feeding him copious amounts of all listed above it wasn't moving the needle. I noticed ""unprocessed"" oats in his fecal. His system was not breaking down the shell/hull and therefore not getting the benefit. Someone heard my complaints behind the desk and mentioned the ""hull less."" BOOM. Ever since he has been packing on the lbs, finally! Also, steamed rolled/crimped barley vs whole Barley was another change. As to why he doesn't metabolize his food? We maybe looking at cancer because his blood work showed him to be anemic but for now he is fat and happy and the winter doesn't seem so bleak.
