The Best Friend Deluxe Grazing Muzzle is a combination Grazing Muzzle and breakaway halter all-in-one. The design utilizes a plastic side-release buckle as its breakaway feature. Each Deluxe muzzle comes with a spare buckle that can be easily attached in the field. The Deluxe muzzle has a roomy fit to allow for chewing. Black.

Which muzzle size should I order?

The best way to determine size is to measure your horse's face using the sizing chart above.

To measure:

Refer to the sizing chart to choose a size. Most horses wear the same size muzzle as halter, but not always. After choosing a size, note the depth and circumference of the muzzle. Because horses' heads are generally tapered like an ice cream cone, measuring the circumference of the face at the right spot is critical to finding the correct size muzzle.
Stand to the side of your horse looking at the profile of his head. Start at the tip of his lips and measure up towards his ears to the depth of the muzzle.
At this point, measure the circumference keeping the tape snug. A horse will need at least an additional two inches for chewing and regular movement of the jaw.
If you are in between sizes, get the larger size. The muzzles are intended to have a roomy fit.

Best Friend is the best Grazing muzzle on the market. I can often get a couple of years of use before the hole is too large.

This is the exact same muzzle I have used for 2 years. I bought the same size (horse) but this new one seems very large on my mare. She has been able to get it off at least once so far, which is not good for a horse that can go laminitic quickly. The quality is very good, but I am not too happy that the sizing seems to have changed on these. They are quite expensive, so I am going to try to finish out the season with this, but I can only put it on her if I am going to be home to monitor the situation.

Hi Linda, thank you for reaching out. We recommend that you double check your muzzle. It's possible that it was mismarked. The sizing has not changed. There is difference in sizing between the standard and deluxe however. Did you get a different style than the last time?

The two muzzles appear to be identical, except the new one is larger. I don't know where to find the size on it.

The bottom of the muzzle should be stamped, and there is also a white tag sewn in. The white tag on the old muzzle may be long gone at this point, but the bottom should still have some stamping on it.

I had a chance to look at the two muzzles, and the new one clearly says horse on the bottom. The bottom of the old one is almost worn smooth, but looking closely it appears that the word on the bottom is cob. That would explain the size difference. I bought this muzzle about 5 years ago and don't remember ordering that size, but obviously I did. Now I know what size my mare really needs, and will order that size in the future. She doesn't fit in a cob halter, which is why I didn't think the old muzzle was that size.
