Artimud is intended for use in gaps in hooves that may otherwise be prone to microbial invasion. It is designed to produce an environment that bacteria and fungus cannot grow in and to promote formation of healthy tissue. Its thick, clay consistency allows it to stick in cracks too shallow for the use of Hoof Stuff antimicrobial packs. Containing only naturally occurring ingredients Artimud is non-toxic, safe and easy to use. Artimud is a great product for putting under Sole Support Impression Material to help maintain a healthy environment. Hoof Stuff & Artimud have been found useful for seedy toe, white line disease, deep central sulcus separation, abscess cavities, grass cracks, as well as other issues. It's active ingredients act not only to eliminate bacteria and fungus but also promote healing and restoration of healthy tissue.
Honey makes fantastic base for this product increasing its healing and antimicrobial powers and aiding adhesion into the hole!
Trials showed that although Hoof-Stuff was brilliant in deeper cracks and crevices in the hoof it was unable to stay in shallower cracks and on the surface of the hoof . We came upon the idea that since the only thing that consistently stuck to the areas of the foot we were trying to treat was in fact mud! So we tried to create something similar that had a beneficial rather than detrimental effect - thus Artimud was born.
Artimud can be smoothed, rolled, squashed, spread and molded to stay in the area it was put so its active antimicrobial and healing agents can sort out the problem.
Artimud contains:
- Green french clay - an antimicrobial clay which gives the putty the perfect consistency.
- Bio-active honey - for its antimicrobial qualities and ability to make the putty sticky.
- Zinc Oxide - a powerful, yet harmless antimicrobial powder
- Eucalyptus oil - as well as being a highly effective antimicrobial, this essential oil assists in the toughening of weakened structures.
All the ingredients in Artimud are there to either have an antimicrobial effect or to improve the consistency and hence the longevity of its effect.
Red Horse has cut tea tree oil out of the formula as in very rare occasions horses can have an allergic reaction to it. In anaerobic situations it can also detritmentally effect the action of beneficial bacterium!

I LOVE this stuff. My farrier suggested I get it to help heal and prevent thrush. Since I started using it thrush is rarely even present! It stays in place for several days, and smells awesome. I also use the Sole Cleanse which is also awesome, especially days your in a bit of a hurry of it has been more dry

This was recommended by a farrier. Cheshire Horse is the only place I’ve found to order it in the US, but it’s magic for thrush! Always cures up quickly and seems to improve the health of the hoof overall. I won’t ever be without it. I also tried Field Paste from the same brand and prefer the clay consistency of this that can even last through several days of turnout.

This actually works! I’ve battled thrush off and on forever, but bought this because I’m sick of using products that damage the hoof or stain everything. With just one use, the thrush almost completely cleared up. The best part is that after 3 days (and time outside in pasture) I can still see a trace of it left in the frog. This tells me it actually lasts and doesn’t just rub off in a few minutes of standing on grass or shavings. The smell is very strong, but dissipates. It’s easy to apply. My only complaint is that the tub is fairly small so I’ll have to order more soon. I estimate I can get about 6-8 applications for 2 horses (12-16 total). Since it clears thrush quickly and I’ll use it less often as a preventative, I’ll definitely buy again to keep on hand.
